Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00PM Get ready for spring with Chris and Nancy Baker, owners of Alexandria's Bakers Acres greenhouse, and the Concrete Jungle located in the Short North area of Columbus. The Bakers are known far and wide for their homegrown varieties of Coleus and Begonias. If you’re in need of planting advice you’re in luck! Join us for this question and answer session with Bakers Acres. This program is free and open to gardeners of any age! March 19 at 10:30AM The Alexandria Library Adult Book Club has established itself as an entertaining, enjoyable and enlightening experience. The group agreed to sample books from all genres ranging from the classics to contemporary novels to political satire. Some of the previous titles we have read and discussed include: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy, Standing in the Rainbow by Fannie Flagg, The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson, The Whistling Season by Ivan Doig, Sarah's Quilt by Nancy Turner, Silent Night by Mary Higgins Clark, A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, 19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult, A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel, Midwives by Chris Bohjalian, The Good Earth by Pearl Buck, and The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. |
